Dutch Theatre Festival

Celebrate the stage! The season's top drama performances, which the jury panel and the audiences felt shouldn’t be missed, will be staged one last time at the Dutch Theatre Festival in Amsterdam. From 1 to 11 September 2011, the theatres on and around the Leidseplein in Amsterdam will celebrate the stage during the Dutch Theatre Festival.

About Us TF is a joint initiative of the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam, Vereniging van Theatergezelschappen en –producenten, Theater Instituut Nederland, Bureau Promotie Podiumkunsten and Holland Festival. The festival is directed by Jeffrey Meulman.

Amsterdam Fringe Festival Coinciding with the Dutch Theatre Festival is the Fringe Amsterdam. To enjoy a day or night at the Amsterdam Fringe Festival, you don’t need a Dutch language course. Look for the Language No Problem marker and you will find the shows that speak to you without any language barrier.

International lectures Three prominent guests from the international field will participate in a program with lectures and discussion. Helen Freshwater (Birkbeck College, London) and Branislav Jakovljevic (Stanford University, USA) both invested in research that deals with the complex relationships between theatrical staging and real life. Bojan Jablanovec (Slovenia) is director of Via Negativa, one of Europe´s most radical avant-garde theatre companies.

The Anatomy of Weather Matchbox Theatre Collective
