International lecture program - in collaboration with Utrecht University

Three special guests from the international field will shine their light on striking developments in theatre. All three will give their lectures to a diverse audience and there will also be the opportunity to take part in a seminar which will go deeper into the work of the three guests.

Sally Jane Norman (New Zealand) is director of the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (Sussex). Norman explores the relationship between art and technology, and especially how technology can make new forms of 'liveness' possible, ranging from new forms of media use to artificial life.

Alan Read (Great Britain) is a theatre maker, curator and professor of theatre at Kings' College London. Under his leadership the historically anatomical theatre of Kings' College was transformed into a inter-disciplinary centre for research into the theatrical character of war, law, medicine and scientific research. In his own research he is exploring the relationship between the theatre and everyday life, and the role of animals, children and objects in contemporary performances.

Jon McKenzie (USA) is head of the Digital Humanities Initiative at the University of Wisconsin and author of several books, including Perform or Else. From Discipline to Performance. His current research concerns performance, globalization, new media and civil disobedience.
